Betfred Data Free: What the Site Covers and How to Join
Betfred data free is a separate version of the Betfred website at datafree.betfred.co.za, labelled Data Free, where you can bet on sport, horse racing and lucky numbers, play Aviator and open an account in your phone browser. We opened it on a phone over a South African connection. This page covers what its home page offers, how to reach it and join, how paying in and out works, and how it differs from Betfred’s Data Friendly Games, a casino category on the main site.

What Betfred data free is
It is a version of the Betfred website that Betfred labels Data Free, on its own address. Its home page offers five of Betfred’s products, each behind a PLAY NOW button, and a sixth tile called Go to Full Site that takes you to the normal betfred.co.za. Betfred’s own pages do not say who pays for the data or which pages of the data free site are covered, so check your data balance the first time you go past the home page.
- Works in your browser. Betfred’s FAQ says Betfred is fully web-based at this time, so there is nothing to install.
- Labelled on the page. The data free home carries a DataFree logo, a Data Free heading and a Betfred Data Free item in the Help menu, which is how you know you are on the right version.
- Five products on the home page. Aviator, lucky numbers, live in-play, sport and horse racing each have a PLAY NOW button that keeps you on the datafree.betfred.co.za address.
- A door to the full site. The Go to Full Site tile’s CLICK HERE button leaves the data free address for betfred.co.za, and Betfred does not describe that address as data free.
What the data free site is like to use
On a phone, the first screen has a dark blue bar with Numbers, Aviator, Sports and Horses across the top, Login and Sign Up buttons below it, and then the Data Free heading with its logo. Scroll down and the six picture tiles follow two to a row: Aviator, Lucky Numbers, Live In-Play Sports, Bet on Sports, Horse Racing and Go to Full Site. Under them come a row of Betfred’s sponsorship badges, the welcome offer and a footer with Betfred’s licence line and the responsible gambling helpline.
The normal betfred.co.za home, opened the same way, opens on a welcome offer banner and a Latest Big Winners row, with Sports, Casino, Lotto, Promos and Join along the bottom.
The menu button opens a longer list: Numbers, SpinTastic, Vegas, Aviator, Sports, Horses, Betgames, instant games such as Rapid Spin&Win, Keno Max and Big 20, Greyhounds and HD Dogs. The Help menu links to Deposit, Promotions, the FAQ, Deposit Methods, Withdrawal Methods, the terms, Betting Rules, Fixtures and Branches. When we opened the SpinTastic slots page it showed only a Betfred LOADING screen at first, and its games lobby comes from a separate games address rather than from datafree.betfred.co.za.
How to reach the Betfred data free site
- Type datafree.betfred.co.za into your phone browser. It opens on the Data Free page at datafree.betfred.co.za/page/welcome-df.
- Check the address and the heading. The address must start with datafree. Betfred also has a page at betfred.co.za/page/welcome-df that looks the same, but its PLAY NOW buttons send you to the normal betfred.co.za address.
- Save the website in your browser, as Betfred’s FAQ suggests, so you go straight to the data free address next time.
Register and log in on the data free site
The Login and Sign Up buttons sat at the top of every data free page we opened, so you can join or sign in without leaving the data free address. Betfred’s FAQ says to register with the green button at the top right, which reads Sign Up on the data free site, and to have your identity number ready.
- Sign up with your first name, surname, mobile number, email address, SA ID or passport number and a password. The promo code box is optional, and you tick to confirm that you are over 18 and agree to Betfred’s terms and privacy policy.
- Log in with your email address or mobile number and your password.
- Upload your FICA documents to verify the account. Betfred’s FAQ asks for documents that are not older than 3 months.
Hollywoodbets and Interbet also put a Register button inside their data free sites.
What you can bet on data free
- Sport. The Bet on Sports tile opens football on the data free address, and the footer lists rugby and cricket as well.
- Live in-play. The Live In-Play Sports tile opens the live betting page on the data free address.
- Horse racing. The Horse Racing tile opens the race meetings on the data free address.
- Lucky numbers. The Numbers page offers lotto betting on global numbers draws.
- Aviator. The Aviator tile opens Spribe’s Aviator crash game on the data free address.
SkyPilot, a crash game listed under Betfred Exclusives on the main site, is listed in the data free footer, but on our visit that link opened a page saying the page you were looking for does not exist. We found no pools product on the Betfred data free site. The Tote pools and the Soccer 6 zone are on Interbet’s data free site.
Data free and Data Friendly Games are different things
Betfred uses both phrases on different parts of its site. Data Free is the label on the datafree.betfred.co.za site described above. Data Friendly Games is a category in the casino lobby of the main betfred.co.za site, and on our visit it held 44 game tiles, each asking you to log in before you play.
Betfred’s category page, FAQ and terms do not explain what data friendly means or how much data those games use, and Betfred does not describe them as data free. The casino lobby on the data free site also loads from a separate games address, so check your data balance before and after a session whenever you play casino games from either address.
Welcome offer and promotions
The data free home shows Betfred’s welcome offer as up to R21,000 plus 750 free spins, for new customers only, with T&Cs applying. The promotions page on the data free site says new offers drop every week across sports, casino and crash games. It gives the welcome offer’s headline only, so open the offer’s full terms before you deposit.
Betfred’s FAQ sets out how bonus funds can be used. On sport, choose one team only, at any odds. On horse racing, choose one horse, with no place or exotic bets allowed.
Deposits and withdrawals
Betfred’s FAQ says to deposit with the red Deposit button at the top left, and to withdraw by tapping your initials at the top right and then the grey Withdraw button below them. The Deposit Methods and Withdrawal Methods pages open on the data free address and list these ways to pay in:
- Cards: Visa and Mastercard, with Apple Pay, through Walletdoc or Peach.
- Bank payments: Capitec Pay, which you approve in the Capitec banking app, and Ozow, where you choose your bank and enter its login details.
- Vouchers: Easyload, 1Voucher from over 10 000 outlets, OTT Voucher from over 75 000 outlets and Blu Voucher with its 16-digit PIN.
- Payment apps: SnapScan, and Zapper, which needs the Zapper app on your phone.
- Cash: top up at any of Betfred’s 60+ stores, at no cost to you.
Withdrawals go by EFT or Ozow to a bank account saved on your profile, as a 1Voucher PIN by SMS for use in Flash stores, as an SMS PIN for instant cash at an FNB ATM (Nedbank and Standard Bank work the same way), to a Shoprite MoneyMarket account as a voucher you spend in Shoprite stores and through the Shoprite app, or in cash at a Betfred store. Several of these methods take you to another company’s page or app, and Betfred’s pages do not say whether those count as data free, so check your data balance after your first deposit.
Networks and what counts as data free
Betfred’s data free pages, FAQ and terms name no mobile networks and do not list which pages of the data free site are free of data charges. The home page is the part Betfred labels Data Free, and its five PLAY NOW buttons keep you on the data free address, so start there, and watch your data balance when you move on to casino games or a payment page. If the data free site stops loading on your network once your bundle is finished, tell Betfred’s support team which network you are on.
Support, limits and self-exclusion
Betfred’s support team is on 087 095 8862 and at support@betfred.co.za, and the data free menu has a Chat button.
To set a deposit limit, tap your initials at the top right, choose Responsible gambling and set a day limit and an amount limit under Change My Deposit Limit, then confirm with your password. Self Exclude My Account in the same menu blocks your account for the period you pick, and Betfred’s FAQ warns that the change cannot be undone. The Betfred data free site suits you if you bet on football, horse racing or lucky numbers from your phone, because each of those is one tap from its home page and you can join and log in on the same address.
